CSPA Summer 2013 Fundraising Campaign:

Picture

The New Equal Access Boardwalk at Año Nuevo State Park

Together, We Did It!  The New Equal Access Boardwalk is Done.

The Equal Access Boardwalk Project is a tremendous public-private partnership between California State Parks and CSPA.  Funds raised paid for the lumber and hardware necessary for the boardwalk. Experienced trail building volunteers supervised by State Park Rangers worked over twelve weeks to remove and recycle existing materials and build a new boardwalk that supports visitor experiences and protects local flora and fauna of the native dunes and coastal terrace prairie habitats of Año Nuevo.

In April 2013, we kicked off an ambitious fundraising campaign to rebuild the Equal Access Boardwalk.  Thanks to a very generous community of donors, volunteers and docents, we met the financial goal and timeline.

35 tremendous volunteers demolished and rebuilt the Boardwalk.  These individuals volunteered 1256 hours valued at $30,000.

The Boardwalk Donors

2 Anonymous, Foster Anderson, Fred & Sue Bockmann, Avis Boutell, Peggy Danielson, Debra Dout, John Fox, Robert Fox, Linda Fuller, Lesley Franz, Cathy Hirata, Darlene Hobie, Barbara Ives, Linn Johnson, Earle Jones, Barb Karlin, Zoe Kendall, Edward Lambing, Fay Levinson, Joel Ogrin, Janet Oulton, Joyce Pennell, Paul Pokrywka, Joan Takemoto, Gary Upham, Jumbo and Trevlyn Williams and Nancy Wolfe.

And a special thank you to Friends of Santa Cruz Parks and California State Parks Foundation.

Thanks to Terry Kaiser, Ziad Bawarshi, Tiffany Bailie, and Dennis Rinde for their oversight.

The Equal Access Boardwalk Project is a perfect example of why community volunteers formed the Coastside State Parks Association.  Community contributions of dollars and time supports the California State Parks in the protection of coastal natural resources and creates opportunities for high-quality interpretation.

We’ll keep you posted about our next campaign.  Thank you.
